Marlins win major battle in lawsuit over stadium
The Florida Marlins have cleared a major hurdle in their bid to get a new stadium. Circuit Court Judge Jeri Beth Cohen ruled Tuesday that there are no grounds to overturn the judgment of the Miami-Dade County Commission that the stadium is a public purpose.

Wagner needs elbow surgery, will miss entire 2009 season
New York Mets closer Billy Wagner needs elbow surgery that will sideline him through the 2009 season. The five-time All-Star has been sidelined since Aug. 3. He has a torn medial collateral ligament in his left elbow and a torn flexor pronator, which is a muscle in the forearm.
